Monarch Butterflies

We took a trip over to Valle de Bravo to see the Monarch Butterflies that migrate every year to Mexico from Canada during the winter. It was really a neat thing to see. We took our trip after the peak season and still were so impressed with how many butterflies were swarming the sky.

Our trip up the mountain to the butterflies could have been taken by foot or horse. With a one year old that wants to walk by himself, I figured horses were the way to go.
But, I was soon second guessing my horse decision. Poor Danny's arms were probably very uncomfortable trying to hold on to James and the horse for 30 minutes. But, we made it to the top!
Those mounds in the tree limbs are thousands of butterflies lumped together.

Like my Maid Marian crown? Complete with dead butterflies! Some nice LDS senior mission couples we ran into insisted I wear it for our family picture. I am such a good sport.
The wonder and awe.

A Boy not a Baby

Have I mentioned lately how much I love this little guy? 2010 seems like it will be a year with my boy not my baby. What? Does it happen that fast really?!
Here is a look at my almost 18 month old J*Bird.

Stillness. Not typical.
We are a curious boy.

And what does our curiosity find... lighters! Opps. But, how do they KNOW it's something naughty to have? You can see in his face he KNOWS!He explores.
And Jumps!He plays peek - a -
BOO!
He eats.
And, scavenges for edible delights from sun-up to sun-down!
He even pretends to find and eat food.

He swims with his daddy.

Boogies at the sound of music.
Runs...
...and runs...
...and runs! And almost always with a ball at foot.

He is one handsome little boy.
