In the Spirit of Thanksgiving
Give Thanks... everyday in November. I am thankful for crock pots that provide a good meal the minute I get home from church. Amen. Today I am thankful for nothing to do... my busy weekend is behind me. Yeah! Today I am thankful for my Dad(dy). From his subtle humor to his great humility... I love that man. Today I am thankful to be American. And BIG thanks today to all those who have fought, are fighting, and will fight for our great Nation. Today I am thankful for the beauty of the earth. The sun is shining, the sky is clear, the air is crisp, and you can see downtown from up here in Lomas (the hills). Today I am thankful that we had an early church... I love being snug as a bug at home all Sunday afternoon with my boys. Here's to 9 am church next year! Today I am thankful for my little guy. Never has the wonder and awe been so big as it is watching my little baby grow. Bonus, getting to watch him with my Danny. =) Today I am thankful for Costco ....food glorious food! Today I am especially thankful for overall good health. My poor baby is burning up with a fever and I wish I could take his place. Today I am thankful that my husband is letting us put up or Christmas tree! I rationalize it because we are gone next week for Thanksgiving and then we leave for MD for Christmas on the 19th of December. I mean, a girl has got to enjoy HER tree a little. =) So, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas... Today I am thankful for the opportunity to live in Mexico City. El D.F., you are a wild and crazy city. Your traffic makes my blood boil, like this morning when it took me nearly 2, two, dos, 5 - 3, 1 + 1, yes TWO hours to get home from the Embassy. But, El D.F, you have charm and quirks galore, adventures at every corner, friends that are so dear to my heart, and you are the special place that I welcomed my first born into. I will sorely miss next year. Xoxo, The Gringa, Lauren (I hope you did not read all that)
.
Catch the thankful bug...I dare you.

The Little Chicken
James saw only one thing when he spotted the little girls
PET (yep, pet) chicken.
Mmm, dinner.

Sign Language
If you have any desire to teach your bambino sign language... do it! We occasionally signed a few things with James, never thinking we did it enough for him to actually learn it. Then outta of no where he starting communicating with us.
I think it is so darn cute and not to mention... helpful!
My mom thinks that teaching your baby to sign is silly. Some how I bet she will change her tune when she sees first hand how cute it is.

Go Time!

After checking out my friend Suzanne's blog, with all her neat photos of her families little trips around Mexico, I am thinking that I am just not getting out enough. From looking at my blog someone passing by would never guess we actually live in Mexico because I have been so bad at taking little trips and/or putting up the pictures.
It's go time ... we leave Mexico in approximately 9 months (sniffle, sniffle)
.... time to get immersed in all things Mexico. And, to blog about it.
Sorry mom, pictures of James (although he is in fact authentically Mexican) might be taking a back seat. You'll get over it.

When Life Serves You Lemons...
Yesterday, we had a lovely little Relief Society activity. I love my Relief Society ladies. What a great group to belong to. Never have I met such wonderful, selfless, spirited, wise woman. I love them. In fact, I am quite intimidated to be in charge (yes friends, I am the RS President, now take your jaws off the floor) of such incredible people. Talk about having the BEST role models surrounding me. Lucky? No, so very blessed!

The look of satisfaction...
Halloween was a lot of fun this year especially because James can actually walk and therefore kinda trick-or-treat. I am in such the holiday mood ... actually more like the CHRISTMAS mood. Not that Halloween or Thanksgiving are lame, in fact I seriously love the both. But for Thanksgiving this year we will be in Acapulco (not that I am complaining) and no where near a turkey. So i kinda feels like Thanksgiving is not happening this year. It seems all my energy is focused on Christmas - when we will be in DC with my parents, where it is cold, and where there are not any palm trees. Just they way it should be in my mind. =)
Anyway, here are our trunk-or-treating and Halloween party pictures...
