Too Bad We Don't Have These Bad Boys

My sister Carmen sent me these pictures of her children - Luke, Caleb, and Caroline (yes, the dog is her child too)- and suggested that we needed some these.

Pure Carmen style.

Piggy Flu Runs My Life

Me: Ugh! This flu thing is so annoying. We have to stay home all day and not leave our houses.

My Mom: Oh good, that way you can just blog all day and put up pictures of James.
Save me!
This morning my maid came by to pick up a key so she can come clean while we are in MD for a week. She and I were trying to figure out how to use the keys to my back door when all the sudden some rang the back door. I open it to find my neighbor who quickly upon seeing my maid covers her mouth, snarls, and begins to rant about how she needed to leave because she could get us all sick.
Embarrassed? Absolutely!
When my neighbor left my maid turned to me and said "no me gusta". Uh yeah, me neither! My maid is the sweetest most kind girl.
This is the same neighbor that told me I should not have so many wrinkles on my forehead since I was only 30. Did I have the heart to tell her I was actually only 26? Heck no!
Again, save me!

Swine Flu

First off, yes, we know all about the swine flu. Our days are filled with staying home and watching the people roam about outside with masks on. No schools for 2 weeks, no restaurants, no visa lines for 2 weeks, no not even church! We are suppose to fly to MD this week for Will and Michelle's wedding. We are hoping and praying for good health and no closing of airports.

Dan and James spending their quarantine time at home with a little Wii action.

Besides Wii :
James has been working on sitting up,
being naked - see it is not just when he meets presidents,
swimming - although we have been warned to not swim anymore,
watching our maid Gemma - although we are now paying her to NOT come to work until this is all over (she has to spend 2 hours on public transportation - talk about germs!),
and, trying to take baths w/out sucking on the dirty water - it's not going to well.

Why HELLO, Mr. President

Wow, what an experience to meet President Obama! He is truly charismatic and has quite the sense of humor - obviously, since he held my baby with no pants. But seriously, it was a moment we will not soon forget and James' baby book will have a great story to tell.
.
Ok, so the no pants thing - James had 5 shots earlier that morning and was running a mild fever. Add to that, being in a crowd of 800 in a room that felt "Mexican" warm and well my poor kid was too hot to handle. So, I decided off with the pants while we waited for 3 hours! When the president came into the room I just got carried away with excitement and the pants never went back on. Oh well...
.
When President Obama reached for James I apologized to him for my fussy child (and the pantless-ness) and explained that he had his shots today. He was gracious and joked that he too would feel the same way if he got his shots. Relief? No, still embarrassed!
Again, oh well...

.

Waiting...

...and waiting.Here he is!
Here he comes, Mr. President...

Holding Baby Lindsey (our vacation buddy) James is not too happy about that?

James meeting President, angle 1

and angle 2 and the pucker, haha!

Happy Easter!

Love our Little Bunny Boy!

VeRaCrUZ!

We just got back from the beach! What I would give to have a beach home! We were so happy to find that James loved the water and sun this time. Our trip to Acapulco sure had us worried that our kid was a beach-hater - yikes. Our little J Bird was a happy little "guero" and made lots of new friends during his vacation. We were accompanied by our friends from the Embassy - Brandon and Kristen and their kids Kyle and Lindsey (one of J's gf's).
So happy to be out of the car!

We went right on down to the beach.

Kristen and baby Lindsey

The water in the Gulf is so warm!
Yes, we ALL need some tans!
The Chateau D'If - sike - but I seriously could not help but feel like Edmond was locked up somewhere in this joint. =) This is actually the fort San Jaun de Ulua in the Veracruz port. Its construction was started in 1535 by the Spanish and was the only port on the east coast for some time. In the 1800's it was made famous for holding prisoner Benito Juarez, Mexico's "George Washington". After independence it was also used in unsuccessful attempts to fight off the invading French and Americans. It was really fascinating to explore this old fort right on the water and think of the pirate attacks, torture, and battles, oh my!

The Aquarium in Veracruz!

Enjoying our hotel's pool.James testing out the snorkel gear.

Check out how sallow the water is way out there - Danny is only knee deep.
I can sit by myself!!!
The Sand Castle! Kyle is so proud (and cute)!

We saw the Temple! It has a primo location a block from the water. I love to see the Temple...
Little J Bird has some rapid rolling skills and after falling off the bed earlier this week this is what we have resorted to to keep him from falling onto our hard hotel tiles. He seems to like it anyway.
