We just got back from the beach! What I would give to have a beach home! We were so happy to find that James loved the water and sun this time. Our trip to Acapulco sure had us worried that our kid was a beach-hater - yikes. Our little J Bird was a happy little "guero" and made lots of new friends during his vacation. We were accompanied by our friends from the Embassy - Brandon and Kristen and their kids Kyle and Lindsey (one of J's gf's).
So happy to be out of the car!

We went right on down to the beach.

The Chateau
D'If -
sike - but I seriously could not help but feel like Edmond was locked up somewhere in this joint. =) This is actually the fort San
Jaun de Ulua in the Veracruz port. Its construction was started in 1535 by the Spanish and was the only port on the east coast for some time. In the 1800's it was made famous for holding prisoner Benito Juarez, Mexico's "George Washington". After independence it was also used in unsuccessful attempts to fight off the invading French and Americans. It was really fascinating to explore this old fort right on the water and think of the pirate attacks, torture, and battles, oh my!
