Martha Who?

I decided that the ugly beige seat covers from circa 1973 that plagued our dining room chairs had to go. Danny and I rent so we can't touch our white walls, so the walls mixed with the beige chairs and carpet made me feel like the room was basically blah (like whoa!). So I went to Jo-Anne's Fabric, picked out something with a little flare, and ta-da here is the outcome....

My Best Friend's Wedding

My darling Carole Ann got married yesterday. It was a lovely sealing and day (despite the heat & humidity). Carole Ann and Jon Bullough are a wonderful couple and I am so excited for the them to finally be married. I have decided that Jon has some serious stud quality and that my best friend is in great hands! The reception was so much fun. We all got our groove on to the awesome jazz band and got a little teary eyed when Jon performed a song he wrote for Carole Ann (it made me miss my Danny - he was out of town for work). I just <3 love.

Weddings in DC... in August!? (they are braver than I)

So it is hazy, hot, and humid here in DC. Typical weather for this time a year. So it is baffling to me that we have 5 weddings to go to during the month of the 3 H's. We did not have a one in June or July but it seems that all engaged couple's eyes have been on August. Hey, more power to them! Here are a few pics from some of the joyous events...

DC United v Beckham???

Ok, so DC United plays the LA Galaxy tonight but they might as well just say that the game is against David Beckham or even better Posh Spice. Seriously though, I was listening to the radio today and everyone was talking about the DC United game which never happens. As a loyal United fan who attends a fair amount of games I can't decide if I should be mad at the fact that I can't go to the game tonight because it sold out like 3 months ago, or annoyed at the fact that most of the people going to the game are not there to cheer on the United but are there only to see the Beck-ster probably warm the bench. It reminds of the time I went to see the Wizards play the Jazz in Salt Lake when Michael Jordan was playing for DC. I would bet that 2/3 of the people there had on Wizards jerseys (# 23 of course because who knows who # 3 Juan Dixon is anyway? He only sleeps in my old bedroom.)
But on the other side of this I feel like I should welcome the fact that Beckham and his Spice Chick are bringing soccer some attention, after all it is the World's football. So here is to hoping that the USA will, through the help of 2 Brits, start to recognize the true best game out there.

I'm in Loooove...

It is not every day that you fall in love. I mean since falling in love with Danny I think there has been only one other time I have fallen in love (Discovery Channel's Shark Week but I guess that was more of a fling since the romance only lasted 7 days) until today! OK, so I got my Lucky magazine in the mail this week and inside found some free samples of Palmer's Brand lotion. I immediately recognized the lotion from my younger days at Forest Oak Middle School. I first laid eyes on this Cocoa Butter Formula lotion back in the girls locker room at good ole' FOMS. My best friend used this lotion and she said it helped with scars and her "ash-i-ness". (For those unfamiliar with what being ashy is please take a moment to visit the Urban Dictionary and expand your mind: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=ashy) Why I did not take more notice to it then is beyond me because this little sample packet changed my life. I spent my lunch hour trying to get my hands on a bottle of this stuff in lotion form (the balm stuff just won't cut it) without success. Realizing that I could not loose my love I searched some more and found it at Target. Lesson learned - when you recognize a good thing stop at nothing to get it, it worked on Danny and it certainly worked with my Cocoa Butter... and of course shop at Target first.
